redangelteflon @ 06:49 am: Looking for a specific Fic that i forgot.
Hi I'm Looking for a specific Fic from Portkey, that i read a while back. If someone could help that would be GREAT
and AWESOME!

anyway here's the premise:

Harry just got back from defeating Voldemort ( I think, or atleast had a really fierce Battle) where he was severely traumatized and tortured.
WHen he got back his whole body and mind ached and he was in excruciating pain.

when everybody left after placing him in his bed, (Ron was in the other bed with the Curtain's drawn) Hermione slipped into the boy's dormitory
and laid down in the same bed as Harry, to try to comfort him because he was having nightmares and was moaning from the pain.

anyway, long story short . . . Harry and Hermione end up sleeping together (have sex in the same room as RON with a Silencing Charm used by Hermione)
the next day BOTH Hermione and Harry never acknowledge the incident ever happened

that's all I remember

if someone could kindly let me know which fic and which author this was by, that would really really help alot!

thanks again!

I was just wondering. Since the original Pumpkin Pie site closed down some time ago, do the essays that were posted there still exist somewhere? Were they ever posted on different sites, like say PK or LC? I've been trying to find a link to [info]parkergray's Heart of Harry and Hermione essay, but it seems to have disappeared. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

descrime_hp @ 12:35 am: Just a little math...
This may be obvious, but as the last post was about OBHWF, I thought I'd throw this out here.

With OotP, the trio was multiplied by two, giving us three girls and three boys, which obviously invites pairing speculations between them. IF all six of them survive, and IF Rowling pairs them off with each other (which, I admit, may be two large assumptions to make), then OBHWF is impossible.

There are two restraints on pairing speculations:
1. Ron and Ginny are related and so can't be paired off
2. Rowling has said on her website that Neville/Luna will not happen (http://www.jkrowling.com/textonly/rumours_view.cfm?id=24)

This leaves, actually, only three possibilities:
1. Ron/Hermione, Neville/Ginny, Harry/Luna
2. Ron/Luna, Neville/Ginny, Harry/Hermione
3. Ron/Luna, Neville/Hermione, Harry/Ginny

Notice how Ron/Luna and Neville/Ginny shows up twice (leaving Harry/Hermione)? ^^ Either way, OBHWF is impossible.

May 13th, 2005

bwaybourne @ 12:04 pm: OBHWF?
So I figured it would be safer to post this in harmony_army rather than in harryhermione just due to the fact that some flames are still dying down over there.

I just recently left Sugar Quill reading in their forums. Yes, I know, but I honestly got curious about this One Big Happy Weasley Family theory they are always going on about. Appartently there are some different views on it. Some say it would still be angst filled with the "remaining" Weasleys still trying to rebuild the family. Harry and Hermione included. Others think it would add a great ray of sunshiney end to the continually depressing book series.....and....

Quite frankly......part of me thinks it would be a wonderful idea if it weren't for one thing: the story isn't about the Weasley Family. I mean honestly I think the whole theory is based around THAT premise. Supposedly some fans want the Weasleys to become Harry's family. Honestly I don't ever see that happening because Harry knows so little of his own parents that he would not be ready at age 17 to have his "parents" (through via entanglement with Ginny or not) be replaced by anyone, even in the smallest sense, even by the Weasleys.

Others see it as a way for one if not both their ships from happening. I of course have my own ideas on that, but I think they're pretty much shared opinions in this community therefore there's no further reason to go into THAT. No need to bring up the absurd.

So basically OBHWF brings sunshine and roses (or maybe lack thereof, some think there could still be angst....within the Weasley family....whom this story is not about....) but I wonder....where is the fun in a real happy ending that started with a murder and orphaning of a child.....

(Yes I do believe there is a possibilty that HP will have some form of a happy ending, but OBHWF is definately not on that train of canon....)

And bottom line, you can love the Weasleys as much as you want. I love the Weasleys.....most of them....but that STILL won't make them the main characters. Sorry :(

sinverguenza @ 12:02 pm: first off, im so tired of hearing the HP series compared to star wars. but i thought id type this up to address what some people consider evidence that r/hr is going to happen by how star wars went (my favorite argument being, by the way, that han rhymes with ron). im no essayist, so i'm sorry if this is crude compared to the amazing work that the rest of you do.

lots of people say luke - harry, leia - hermione, and ron - han. that ron and hermione 'fight' like han and leia did. they are missing one big part of the picture though.

han was a scoundrel!

most women love scoundrels. han was cocky and attractive, and underneath his bravado he was always willing to help his friends. could ron be considered cocky? probably not. attractive? well, im biased since i hate ron, but i would say that he wouldnt be considered a hottie by the general population at hogwarts. can ron come through for his friends under all circumstances? i think ill be kind and say that this is unproven, but for me he proved in GoF that sometimes his priorities trump friendship. is ron a scoundrel, with that lovable scoundrel-ness charisma about him that most women cant resist? i would say no, that ron is indeed lacking in that charisma.

another important element that is missing from ron/hermione that leia/han had was that they werent exactly fighting per se. they were flirting. she knew it and he knew it. they would tease each other about being in love with each other. this is called flirting. ron and hermione really DO fight, as in they argue about things that have nothing to do with flirting. i have not seen one 'fight' they have had that could be considered flirting in any way.

so for r/hr shippers to point to star wars is ridiculous, as we are comparing very different people. its ridiculous anyway since jkr has long said that we are watching too much star wars and trying to apply it to HP. for han and leia, the flirting bickering combo worked because thats what hans personality was, the quintessential rogue. the same does not apply to ron.

calenfenwen @ 04:26 pm: Goodness! I'm all alone!

At lunch today, most of my table was talking about the upcoming Harry Potter book, and the topic came to relationships. Here is the following conversation.

Friend #1: So guys... who does Harry like?
Me: Hermione!
Friend #1: No, it's definately Ron and Hermione. If you look at the books, they follow star wars. Harry is Luke, Hermione is Leia, and Ron is Han.
Friend #2: Yeah! Han and Ron rhymes, so that means something!
Friend #1: Yes. Also, Harry and Hermione are too good of friends to date.

The whole table agreed with my friends and didn't listen to a word I said. Well, they listened, but didn't think that my arguements were valid. They just blew me off as the crazy Harry/Hermione shipper. They knew my views a looooooooong time ago, and a lot of them blew them off.

A sad thing is that one of my friends was a Harry/Hermione shipper, but she changed her mind because she didn't see enough evidence! Sad!

Does anyone know of anything that disproves or holds a strong arguement against the Harry Potter Star Wars connection? If you do, I will love you forever!

Hello fellow H/Hr shippers! :D I've been lurking the H/Hr communities here on LJ for months now, and since I've seen no mention of this article on any website or community, I thought I'd share. I found this quite some time ago - I'd say circa 2002 or 2003. The article itself was posted on CNN.com on December 24, 2001. What a sorely overlooked Christmas present this was. XD Without further ado, I give you an excerpt from the article:

There will also be further romance following on from Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire in which he has a date with a quidditch team-mate -- and develops more of an interest in pal Hermione.

I kid you not.

I like this simple little essay because it DOESN'T go into Freudian, Jungian or other symbolic analysis. Kia's argument for H/Hr is so simple it ought to make people smack their foreheads and say, "Duhhh!"

I usually prefer a simple explanation to a complicated one, and this simple analysis makes plenty of sense to me.

I wouldn't call this "brilliant" but it's definitely serviceable and worth reading. jatkinson has posted on Harry's subconscious feelings for Hermione. This essay pulls together practically every example I can think of, from GoF and OotP, of Harry thinking, speaking, behaving or even dreaming in a way that suggests he's got subconscious feelings for Hermione that go beyond friendship.

Now, IMO, all we need is for Harry to *finally* recognize what those of us here have already figured out...Is it July 16th yet?? ;)

It's been fairly dead around here of late so I thought I'd point you all in the direction of an on-going analysis that seems to be building a strong case for our ship.

[info]clashofminds has been discussing Ron's character through compiling chapter by chapter analysis of the books and just completed book one. Since the debates and myths surrounding Ron's character seem to be both exaggerated and all the more contentious because of the shipping debate, I think examining his character is intergral to understanding the shipping dynamics and better forumation of ship arguments.

I could be worng about just how overt [info]clashofminds's shipping beliefs may be or will be portrayed but even after just the first book's analysis, I feel a steady trend toward highlighting the clash of personality and beliefs between Hermione and Ron while pointing out the building dynamics between Hermione and Harry in comparison.

auliana @ 10:57 pm: Commenting
Hey y'all. Friendly neighborhood mod here. :)

I am considering changing the community options so that only members can comment on posts. Everyone could still read the posts, but only members of the community could respond to them.

My reasoning behind this is that when a post is recced to a newsletter (like [info]quickquote or [info]daily_snitch), the people who come here to respond have no idea that this is not a debating community. I think it's a bit unfair to them and to the original poster. I certainly don't check the userinfo before I respond to a recced post, so I can't imagine that many people do so before responding here.

The community was created as a place where we could post evidence and talk it over with members of our ship without analyzing every word for debate. It was certainly not created for fueling tensions between the shippers.

I'd love to have your input on this, so leave a comment! :)

ps- The non-members in the last post were quite civil, I've just been considering this for a while because of the newsletter issue.

mieystrapurore @ 12:28 pm: The Pumpkin Pie Essays
Hi everyone,

I just joined recently and wanted to offer a link to my favorite H/Hr essays. Reading AngieJ aka Ebony's Trouble in Paradise was what convinced me Ron and Hermione didn't work. Reading essays at Pumpkin Pie was what convinced me that Harry and Hermione did (And of course all that symbolism and good stuff!).

I'm pretty sure that most you have probably read these already because they're fairly old essays, but I wanted to post their links anyway. So here they are....

The Heart of H/Hr by Parker was the very first one I've read. It describes exactly why Harry and Hermione are such a good couple together and why they're made for one another.

The Beginning of Great Things: An H/H Perspective in Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone/Sorcerers Stone by Anya is a look at the H/Hr line in the first book and how it may point to a future relationship.

H/H Hints in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by Ashleigh is a look at the hints in CoS and how they point to a future relationship between H/Hr.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - The H/H Canon Bible by Sabs, Jade and Steve is a look at the hints in book three and how they point to a future relationship between H/Hr.

H/H Hints in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - Yes, you read that right by Libbie is a look at the hints in book four, as amazing as that might seem to other shippers.

And finally, H/H Partnership Essay by Penny Linsenmayer is an essay about the partnership between Harry and Hermione. I believe this is also posted on several other sites as well.

So happy reading!
